In Many Oracle related forums i read above question, every newbie or even exprience person confiused about Oracle DBA and Oracle Apps DBA.

Before going further just understand what is Oracle DBA and Oracle Apps DBA which clear thing about both desgination

What is Oracle DBA?
DBA is for Database Administrator, means any person who responsible for administration, monitor, tunning Oracle Database called Oracle DBA.

Oracle DBA include following types of task.
1. Oracle Database Administration
2. Oracle Database Backup & Recovery
3. Oracle Database Performance tuning
4. Little PLSQL programming

In short DBA is working around database.

What is Oracle Application DBA?
Oracle + Application + DBA = As you know Oracle is software + application ( frond-end) developed In Oracle database by Oracle Corp. + DBA ( Database Administrator)

So Apps DBA include following task
1. All Task which include in DBA.
2. Additional of thing some new task is also added for Apps DBA.
Maintain Oracle Application.
which include following major task
1. Installation of Oracle Application
2. Cloning
3. Patching
4. Maintanance of Oracle Application ( which is very wide task)


In short:
Oracle Apps DBA include all Oracle DBA task and it is very wide subject to learn and explorer.
